NEXT TO NORMAL (IMMERSIVE)

In July 2022, Barcelona's IDEAL Centre d'Arts Digitals hosted an immersive adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway musical "Next to Normal" as part of the Grec Festival. This innovative production featured Alice Ripley, reprising her Tony Award-winning role as Diana Goodman, and Andy Señor Jr. as her husband. The performance was uniquely staged in a 2,000-square-meter space, utilizing 360-degree projections on walls and floors, and a surround sound design to envelop the audience. The musical was condensed to 60 minutes to suit the immersive format, with actors and spectators sharing the same space, enhancing the emotional impact of the story. It was directed by Simon Pittman.
